History of Sri Guru Har Krishan Ji (Eighth Sikh Guru)
Sri Guru Har Krishan Ji was the eighth Guru of the Sikhs. He was born on July 7, 1656, in Kiratpur Sahib, Punjab. His father was Guru Har Rai Ji, the seventh Guru. He became Guru at a very young age, only 5 years old, in 1661.

Despite his young age, Guru Har Krishan Ji was known for his wisdom, compassion, and purity. He helped many people and spread the message of Sewa (selfless service), Nam Simran (meditation on God's name), and truthfulness.

Visit to Delhi and Service During Smallpox Epidemic

In 1664, Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb called Guru Har Krishan Ji to Delhi. Guru Ji accepted the invitation and stayed at the home of Raja Jai Singh, a Sikh devotee.

During this time, a smallpox epidemic broke out in Delhi. Many people were sick and dying. Guru Har Krishan Ji served the sick and poor, gave them water, and blessed them. Many people were cured through his presence and prayers.

Sadly, while helping others, Guru Ji also caught smallpox. He became very ill but never stopped helping people. On March 30, 1664, he passed away at the young age of 7 years, in Delhi.

Before his death, he did not name a specific person as the next Guru but said, "Baba Bakale", meaning the next Guru would be found in the town of Bakala. Later, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was identified as the ninth Guru.
